Located in North Carolina’s city of the same name, Elon University is a private liberal arts school that was named one of the Best Regional Universities by U.S. News and World Report. It is recognized by the National Survey of Student Engagement as one of the most effective universities for engaging its students in learning. Elon is organized into five schools and colleges, and undergraduates are able to choose from over 50 majors. The university also offers an Honors Program, which features discussion-based classes and an especially motivated academic community. Classes on campus all have a hands-on component and faculty serve as mentors who work closely with students in small classes. Outside of the classroom, students engage in internships, volunteer work, and undergraduate research while 70% of Elon students study abroad. Elon offers the resources of a university in a small, close-knit community.
Elon offers more than 140 student clubs and organizations, which includes intramural teams and club sports, allowing students many ways to get involved. Greek life represents 35% of the student body and is a significant part of the social scene on campus. Elon is also twenty minutes from the city of Greensboro and within an hour’s drive of major universities, such as Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, and Wake Forest.
